Rain radar, last hour
Data from MET Norway and WeatherAPI.com, radar from RainViewer. For general information only: forecasts are probabilistic and may be wrong for your exact place and time; for safety, aviation, marine or emergency decisions ask your official weather service.
This board is made to hang on a wall. HAkiosk shows one web page full screen on an Android tablet, iPad or iPhone and keeps it there, so a spare tablet by the door shows the rain coming before you go out.
From Google Play on an Android tablet, or from the App Store on an iPad or iPhone.
Enter the dashboard’s address as the page to show. Add kiosk=1 for the dashboard alone, and your place: https://
Already showing a Home Assistant dashboard on the tablet? Add the same address in a Webpage card and the weather sits beside your lights and heating.
The forecast comes from MET Norway, the Norwegian Meteorological Institute, whose forecast covers the whole world: hour by hour for the next two and a half days, then every six hours to nine days ahead. The temperature, feels-like, UV index, visibility and air quality now come from WeatherAPI.com, and the rain radar from RainViewer, with a new picture every 10 minutes. The dashboard asks again every 10 minutes.
The bars under the temperature are the next two hours in 15-minute steps (from MET Norway’s rain radar in the Nordic countries, from the hourly forecast elsewhere), and the sentence above them says it in words, for example “Rain from 14:30, light” or “Dry for the next 2 hours”. The radar beside it shows the rain moving across the map, so you can see what is coming your way.
The dashboard starts with the city of your time zone. Press Change place to use your browser’s location or search for any town, and choose °C or °F there. It is kept in this browser. For a wall screen, put the place in the address once, for example ?lat=59.44&lon=24.75&place=Tallinn, and add &units=imperial for °F and mph.
Pressure is at sea level, with where the forecast takes it in the next three hours: falling pressure often brings weather in, rising pressure clears it. The UV index runs from 0 to 11 and more; from 3 up, sun protection is worth it. Air quality uses the bands of the US EPA’s Air Quality Index: good, moderate, unhealthy for sensitive groups, unhealthy, very unhealthy and hazardous.
Yes. Install HAkiosk on an Android tablet, iPad or iPhone and give it this page’s address: it shows the dashboard full screen and keeps it there. On a TV or a laptop, press Full screen at the top, or add ?kiosk=1 to the address in any kiosk browser. The same address works in a Home Assistant dashboard’s Webpage card.
